It's been confirmed by our friends over at Jalopnik that the pictures you see above and in our gallery are in fact shots of the new 2010 Prius, which is set to debut officially at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Clearly, the new car's overall shape was carried over from the current model that began sales in 2004. It's probably a good idea to keep the profile very similar, considering that the Prius has become such an icon of green motoring and is instantly recognizable. What the Japanese auto giant has done is add new details and a bit more of its current design language to the aerodynamic lines of its older siblings. All we have are low-resolution shots to go on for now, so the real test is still ahead as we first lay our eyes on it in person. More to come.

New interior SUCKS!! Looks like a cheap ass version of a Lexus RX interior.
I liked the Spartan/ipod/spaceship look of the last model's interior. Less buttons, hidden gear shift, more touch screen... simple, clean, nice, not car like. It gave you the impression of "This is the future of automobiles".
If I wanted a gear shift I would buy something I wanted to change gears with... like a manual transmission.
This new interior is like any other Toyota interior... Other than fuel economy it looks as futuristic as a Corolla. BOO ON YOU Toyota.

One headlight is a Xenon premium model.
Second is the standard model.
Plug-in comes 1 year later.

Wake me up when they have a wagon version that I can buy for a reasonable amount over invoice.

Toyota is far ahead of the curve especially when it comes to Hybrids..though the 2010 Prius is a beefed up version of the previous one,it is expected to have a solar roof which will keep the cabin cooler, cutting down on the use of the air conditioning.Besides, the mpg is expected to be about 10% better with additional hp & torque.
Meanwhile, their plug-in units are being tested as we speak here in California. Also since they have entered into a collaboration with Matsushita in Japan we will surely see the vehicle with smaller/lighter battery resulting in much higher mpg.
Isn't mpg the bottom line?

My wife wanted prius, but after seeing this one she is going to get Honda Insight. That front is just purely ugly. I kind of liked old - current version.
